Used tyres are among the largest and most problematic sources of waste today, due to the large volume produced and their durability. The same characteristics which make waste tyres a waste problem also make them one of the most re-used waste materials. Recycled tyre chips can be used for TDF (Tyre Derived Fuel) which is a fuel used for heat plants and cement ovens or for equestrian and co-combustion.
Rubber granulate is reused in e.g. sports fields, artificial turfs, rubber mats and molded products. Rubber powder can be reused in rubber paved asphalt. The recovered steel can be smelted and reused just like non-recovered steel. Finally, the liberated textile has a very high effective burning value and can therefore be mixed with other materials in order to increase that material’s effective burning value.
Worldwide, it’s one billion scrap tires are produced every year. Instead of burning the tires, the Chang Woen system brings entire piece tyre into clean rubber powder and roasts them at a lower temperature in an atmosphere devoid of oxygen which is so called pyrolysis. Through pyrolysis, the tire shreds are broken down into their three basic components: carbon black char, steel radials and oil/gas. From a single tire, approximately 1/3 of the weight is steel, 1/3 becomes pyro black (carbon black plus additives) and the final 1/3 is oil/gas. This product line system offers a true recycling solution to the large amount of waste tyre issue. And recycled materials can be used to make new rubber products.
Chang Woen Recycling have fully recycling solutions for processing of all types of tyres; passenger car and truck tyres including mining tyre, super singles, earth mover tyres, OTR etc. The capacity of the systems ranges from 1.000-5.000 kg/production hour. The system is "multi-size” which means that the size of rubber granulate easily can be changed by merely altering the screen combination. During production of rubber granulate flexibility is a very important factor since the market demand of various fraction sizes will vary.

To achieve the required type of end-product, different standard tyre recycling plants are available. These standard plants are also the starting point when plants are tailored to suit specific customer requirements.
